What to Ask When Looking for a Venue.

One of the first things an engaged couple looks for is the VENUE. Most couples book their venue a year in advance. Once that’s checked off the wedding to-do list, couples can focus on the wedding attire, caterers, photographers, stationers, floral designers, jewelers, bakers, officiants, planners, transportation, accommodation, entertainment, videographers, gifts, and more. Phew - we understand the journey and we’re here to make the first step simple.

So here are 5 simple questions to help couples find the right venue for their special day: Who, What, When, Where, and Why?

  1. Who? As you think about your guest count and imagine your special day, you’ll need to know how many guests the venue can accommodate. If you are looking for a smaller gathering, the lower-level & patio, The Parlor, is perfect for a party of 50 or fewer. The Barn 1880: Historic Venue upper-level capacity is 175.

  2. What? Knowing exactly what is included is essential for your wedding budget. Ask about tables, chairs, restrooms, linens, getting ready rooms, parking, and vendors. The Barn 1880: Historic Venue includes 175 chairs, round and buffet tables, new indoor restrooms, The Loft & The Landing for two spaces for the wedding party to glitz and glam, on-site parking, a caterer’s warming kitchen, and hospitality rooms for your vendors.

  3. When? What hours is the venue available for the wedding party? Ask about set up and clean up time. Is it a shared space or exclusive? At The Barn 1880: Historic Venue, guests have exclusive access from 10 AM to 10 PM for weekend weddings. We also offer an hourly option for corporate and weekday events. We set up and tear down tables and chairs. Family & friends can decorate the venue from 10 AM and clean-up must be completed by the end of the contracted time, 10 PM.

  4. Where? Location is so important. How easy is it for your guests to fly in? What are the local accomodation options? What else can guests do when they’re in town for the weekend? The Barn 1880: Historic Venue is located in Warsaw, Indiana. We have parks, trails, farmer’s markets, lakes, locally-owned restaurants, breweries, boutique shops, festivals, fairs, Airbnbs, and an expanding hotel industry. Your guests will find that there’s something for everyone.

  5. Why? Ask why you should choose them. It’s an easy answer for us: We know how important your wedding day is. We know how long you’ve dreamed about this day. We know how important it is for you to be surrounded by loved ones to celebrate your union and stand with you as you say your vows. And knowing all this…we’ll do everything we can to support you both!
